SCHOOL DAY CEREMONY AND "BRANKOVO PERO" COMPETITION

Elementary school "Branko Miljkovic" celebrated 44th birthday and on the occasion of the School Day organized the ceremony and awarded prizes to the winners of the literary contest "Brankovo pero". President of Palilula Municipality, Boban Džunić, in which territory is this school, visited the students and teachers of the school, congratulated this significant anniversary and visited the facility that is being built.

President Džunić reminded the reporters that the works on the reconstruction of the school building are in progress and pointed out that the new school year, from next the September, will start in the new, and equipped school building. Elementary school "Branko Miljkovic", which I also attended, is one of the largest in Palilula. I hope we can welcome the 45th birthday of the school in the new facility. In the course of the project is to equip the yard, so the students will get a skate park, gym and outdoor artificial rock climbing, "said the president of Palilula and wished the children even more successful and better work.. Thanks to our cross-border project "Strengthening territorial cohesion in the border region through the development of social infrastructure in the field of sport", which Palilula Municipality realized in the partnership with the Municipality Berkovica in Bulgaria, with financial support from EU funds, students will have richer content in their yard and renovated classrooms " said Džunić.

The director of Elementary school "Branko Miljkovic", Miroslav Stanic, said that the school operates in three shifts and achieve extraordinary results. "Our school has about 900 students who work hard to learn and achieve outstanding results at the municipal and district competitions. Due to the weather conditions we're a little late with the construction of new classrooms, but it is important that the new school year will be welcomed in a new, well equipped school, "said the director of the station.

The contest "Brankovo pero" was announced for the fourth year in a row. More than 300 literary works from Nis and the region arrived this year at this school address. The jury found it no easy task to choose the best. Minja Ilijeva, president of the jury for literal competition, said that students received papers were very good. First place and "Brankovo pero" in the category of students from grades 1 to 4 went to Dragisa Lakic from Kursumlija, and in a category 5 to 8 to Petra Radenović from Elementary school "Branko Miljkovic" in Nis.

Towards the Day of Poetry, Miroslav Stankovic, headmaster of the school, presented the awards to the best students - members of the national literary contest "Brankovo Pero" and thanked the contributors for the good organization of this event.
